I am installing the Windows® 98SE on my P4i65GV/ 775i65GV motherboard. After I installed the "Intel® VGA Drivers" from the support CD and restarted the system, the system shows that it cannot find the "ikch8xx.cat" and "isb8xx.cat" files. What should I do?(3/20/2006)
A:Actually, the "ikch8xx.cat" and "isb8xx.cat" files are not necessary under Windows® 98SE. So you can skip it to continue the installation of motherboard drivers. It will not influence the functions of your system. If you want to install the two files completely, please put the support CD into your CD/DVD ROM and refer to the path:
\drivers\VGA\win98_me\Win9X.
Q (125):
I want to install Linux Red Hat 9.0 with HT CPU on my P4i65GV. After installation completed and entered into OS, there are two kinds of OS for choosing: 2.4.20-8smp, and 2.4.20-8. When entering into OS 2.4.20-8smp and selecting shut down, it will not shut down properly. How should I solve the problem?(1/18/2005)
A:All ASRock motherboards support ACPI. Since Red Hat 9.0 is APM mode O/S, please refer to https://www.asrock.com/support/Download/P4i65GV.asp to download special BIOS which supports APM. After special BIOS updated, please type the command "Linux apm=power_off" at the beginning of Linux Red Hat 9.0 installation.

I used Prescott CPU and P4i45GV/P4i65GV. I wanted to use NT4.0, but the installation can not be completed. What should I do?(12/15/2004)
A:For Prescott CPU, some OSes (ex.NT4.0) can not be installed. In order to boot legacy OSes that cannot support CPUs with extended CPUID functions, please flash to the latest BIOS to enable "Max CPUID Value Limit" (Advanced => CPU Configuration)
We don't provide drivers for NT4.0. If you need drivers for NT 4.0, please refer to following websites to get them.

Q (105):
I have an ASRock INTEL ICH5 south bridge based motherboard (P4i65GV, P4i48..). In BIOS setup---IDE Configuration---Onboard IDE Operate Mode, there are two options "Enhanced Mode" and "Compatible Mode". Which one should I select? What is the difference between them?(7/12/2004)
A:Please select [Compatible Mode] if you are using legacy OS (Windows ME / 98SE) with both IDE and SATA devices. If you are using legacy OS (Windows ME / 98SE) with IDE device only, please select [Enhanced Mode]. If native OS (Windows 2000 / XP) is used, please select [Enhanced Mode] no matter you are using either IDE and SATA devices or IDE device only.
When [Enhanced Mode] is selected, the next option will be "OnBoard IDE Controller".
You may enable either the primary IDE channel or the secondary IDE channel. Or you may enable both the primary and the secondary IDE channels by selecting [Both]. Set to [Disabled] will disable the both. Configuration options: [Disabled], [Primary], [Secondary], [Both].
When [Compatible Mode] is selected, the next option will be "Combined Mode Option".
It allows you to select between [Pri IDE + SATA] and [SATA + Sec IDE]. If it is set to [Pri IDE + SATA], then the secondary IDE will not work. Likewise, if it is set to [SATA + Sec IDE], then the primary IDE will not work.
Q (103):
Sometimes when my P4i65GV boots up, the CPU fan starts to work then shut down right away. After waiting for 1~2 seconds, it starts to work again. Why?(7/12/2004)
A:Actually, it is caused by Intel 865GV memory sizing code. It will only happen at the 1st or 2nd boot after getting electrical power. So, please don't worry about it, it is normal.
Q (92):
When I try to install Intel IAA driver for my P4i65GV or P4i48, it stops and shows the error message "Incompatible hardware. The install package is only compatible with Intel 800-series or compatible chipsets. Install will now exit." Why?(4/15/2004)
A:P4i65GV and P4i48 are ICH5 south bridge based motherboards. Intel IAA driver does not support ICH5. The Intel IAA driver in our support CD is for ICH4 based motherboard only.
